Digital on-campus examinations are delivered in Inspera Assessment*. Students complete the exam on their personal laptop, or a laptop borrowed from the Library using a lockdown browser.

  • For centrally timetabled exams, submit a request using the exams online portal. All support will be coordinated centrally.

  • For school-based exams, the school is responsible for coordinating all exam logistics listed below. Exam logistics should be organised at least 3 weeks prior to the exam date to ensure resource and staff availability.

*Note: UQ Medical School do not use Inspera Assessment for digital exams. For UQ Medical School digital on-campus exams, refer to UQ Medical School - ExamSoft

4. Roster Senior/Tech Assistant(s)

Examinations employ a pool of casual Senior Tech Assistants (HEW 3.1) and Tech Assistants (HEW 2.1) to provide technical support and supervision to students during central examination periods.

Schools can request Senior/Tech Assistants for their school-based exams by submitting a request form. Whilst Examinations will facilitate payroll for Senior/Tech Assistants for school-based exams, the cost will be journaled back to the school. Approval should be confirmed for this cost in advance.

  1. Digital on-campus exams have one Senior Tech Assistant per room who can oversee technical support and supervision for up to 50 students. An additional Tech Assistant is required for every additional 50 students

The Senior Tech Assistant will be your main point of contact for any technical issues affecting students before and during the exam. The Senior Tech Assistant will:

  • Commence 1 hour prior to the exam
  • Collect laptop trolleys from ITS
  • Prepare backup laptops and power outlets as required based on expected student numbers
  • Display login instructions and the PIN code to students on the projector screen

Tech Assistants (along with the Senior Tech Assistant) will:

  • Attend to any technical issues that students may experience before and during an exam.
  • Assist with other exam tasks such as supervising students, escorting students for bathroom breaks and collecting attendance slips (if used).
  • Tech Assistants will commence 45 minutes prior to the exam to assist with room and device preparation

Senior/Tech Assistants are not responsible for

  • Being the primary supervisor in an exam room. A school staff member with Planner access to the Inspera test must be present in the exam room at all times and arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the exam start time.
  • Resolving technical issues caused by incorrect test setup or enrolment methods. This can only be rectified by a staff member with Planner access to the Inspera test. We recommend using the LTI test creation method for school-based exams to reduce these issues.
