Examinations and Timetable Services is responsible for all aspects of centrally coordinated examinations and related processes, production and publication of the academic timetable and class allocations; and contributes to the development of policy and procedures relating to assessment and timetabling.

Key responsibilities


Examinations section provides centralised services and support to ensure consistent and high-quality conduct of examinations across all campuses of the University. More specifically, the team:

  • Schedules and supervises exams across all UQ campuses for central exams
  • Manages exam papers for central exams; including printing, distribution to venues, and delivery of completed exam scripts to Schools for marking
  • Trains and recruits casual exam supervisors
  • Facilitates alternative exam arrangements for students who are unable to sit their exams with the main cohort
  • Facilitates arrangements for UQ students to sit exams off-campus, where applicable
  • Hosts exams at a UQ campus for other institutions
  • Provides advice to students and staff about exam matters.

Timetable Services

Timetable Services provides a range of services to the University community which centres on the coordination, production and publication of the class timetable, and student class allocations. More specifically, the team:

  • Produces and publishes the University’s class timetables
  • Coordinates the sort and allocation process for student class preferencing activities
  • Provides advice and support to faculty and school timetabling officers on class timetabling, class allocations, room bookings, and associated systems
  • Coordinates bookings of central meeting rooms 
  • Manages and coordinates ad hoc bookings of centrally controlled teaching rooms for external clients, in addition to internal staff and student groups
  • Delivers specialised training to system users.

8am–5pm (Monday–Friday)
Note: The office is open for extended hours during the end of semester examination periods, Monday to Saturday.
