Digital on-campus examinations are delivered in Inspera Assessment*. Students complete the exam on their personal laptop, or a laptop borrowed from the Library using a lockdown browser.

  • For centrally timetabled exams, submit a request using the exams online portal. All support will be coordinated centrally.

  • For school-based exams, the school is responsible for coordinating all exam logistics listed below. Exam logistics should be organised at least 3 weeks prior to the exam date to ensure resource and staff availability.

*Note: UQ Medical School do not use Inspera Assessment for digital exams. For UQ Medical School digital on-campus exams, refer to UQ Medical School - ExamSoft

2. Book a digital exam venue

When booking a digital exam venue, additional space is required to accommodate staff and students. There should be:

  • Sufficient desk space for each student to use their laptop and rough paper
  • Sufficient walkways for staff to attend to student queries and troubleshoot device issues

For example:

  • Collaborative rooms should have no more than one student at each side of the desk.

  • Learning theatres should leave every 3rd row free for staff to attend to student queries in the rows either side.

To book a suitable digital exam venue for school-based exams:

  1. Review the list of rooms at UQ to find a room with appropriate capacity including the extra space required
  2. Use UQ BookIt to book a suitable room for the exam duration plus:
    • 1 hour before the start time to allow for room set up,
    • 30 minutes after the scheduled end time to allow for possible technical delays and pack down
  3. Instruct students to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start time to get seated, log in and launch their exams in Safe Exam Browser.
  4. Consider how you will set up the venue on exam day to ensure students sit in the appropriate seats.
